Alas, Babylon ~ Book Review

Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank
Book Review by Olivia Ashcraft
For my English I Honors class we were required to read Alas, Babylon. In the beginning I wasn't that into it, but overall it was a good book.

The story is based in a small town in Florida. Randy, one of the major characters is asked by Mark (his brother) if his family can come to be safe from bombing that Mark's suspects, though Mark stays behind. Soon after Mark's wife and children arrive in Fort Repose, multiple cities are bombed in Florida. The stores in town are wiped out, and now everyone has to live off of what they have bought, what they can collect from nature, and trading with fellow townspeople. Randy, Helen (Mark's wife), Ben Franklin (Mark's son), and Peyton (Mark's daughter) soon are taking people into their house, and connect nearby houses by their water source. The book goes on for about the next year of their survival, and the ending leaves the rest of their lives up to your imagination.

I give it about a three out of five stars.

I hope you have a great weekend and read happily!
